When not running events, we host non-writers too. We often have guests (including writers and artists) staying with us for long durations. We welcome nature and inspiration seekers to a cozy, personal experience. Loud people / late night party-goers, please excuse us. 

 

We offer a homely experience, which is non-resort, and non-intrusive. A few things about our place:

 

Our property is often home to people pursuing creative projects, like writing and art. We do not encourage intrusive behaviour, loud music etc. and request all residents to respect the privacy of others. 

Our Wi-Fi is a 150 mbps fibre-optic line with an uptime of 95%+. Occasional outages may happen. A Jio sim / dongle is a good backup. That can also come in handy in case of the rare event of the power failing for more than 3-4 hours (our inverters last that long).

We are off the road – the last 150 metres is a walk. Parking is on the main road. There is no private parking.

All meals are served buffet style with fixed timings. If you have specific dietary needs please inform us before you book. Non-veg is served once a day. All meals are freshly prepared, home-style, mostly Indian dishes. Timings:

Breakfast : 8.30-9.30 AM

Lunch : 1-2 PM

Tea : 5 PM

Soup : 7.45 PM

Dinner: 8-9 PM

A kettle and tea / coffee sachets are in all rooms. We do not offer room service.  Tea and Snacks are served at 5 PM everyday. These are not available on order.  The Kapil general store – some 300 yards from the retreat – is well stocked with packaged food and snacks.

We are not licensed to serve alcohol. You’re welcome to bring your own. The nearest decent alcohol store is a one-hour drive. Please plan accordingly. We cannot arrange anything at short notice.

Laundry is extra at Rs 500 per load and does not include ironing, but we are happy to provide an iron and ironing board.  

Our rooms do not have televisions, but we have a big collection of books that you can borrow from during your stay here. Please make sure to return any books that you borrow from our library. There are many long walks in the area as well.

Ours is a strictly no-smoking facility. You can only smoke in the open areas – not in any of the indoor areas.

On occasion, guests bring their pets. 

We have two dogs of our own, one of whom can be a little territorial.  We allow dogs on the property subject to the following condition :

  1. No aggressive or overly hairy breeds allowed
  2. Pets are not allowed on the furniture or bed. Please bring a bed / basket for the pet.
  3. We do not provide any special food for the dog so if your dog has special needs please bring their food.
  4. Pets are not allowed in indoor common areas.
  5. If other guests are uncomfortable with pets, you have to keep your pet in your room.
  6. We charge a cleaning fee of INR 500 per day per pet.

 

To book with a pet, please check with us in advance before you book.

Rooms

We have two categories of rooms: Main house rooms, and Cob Suites. All our rooms are wood/tile floored, and most have a sit-out.

The main house rooms both open into a common living room, making these ideal for a larger group of four. These rooms are a shade smaller but can sleep 3 people if required.

The charming, eco-friendly cob suites are some 50 metres from the main house, and have the exact same facilities, furniture and fitting as the main house rooms. Each cobb suite has two rooms, a private bathroom, and can sleep three. Each Cob suite has a large plate glass bay window looking out onto greenery or mountains. The cob suites have a rustic charm, and are preferred by many guests. The suites on the first floor have more distant views than the ground floor suites.

All rooms have attached, western style bathrooms, Each has two desks and its own sitout. All residents share the same food and common facilities.

Our property is full of quiet nooks and corners, fruit trees, and a ridge offering a brilliant view of the Himalayan dawn and dusk. Our Guests rate us 5-star on tripadvisor (Quiet Place Himalayas is our hospitality alter ego).

All rooms and suites have the same price. The tariff for a room / suite is:

The above includes all meals. GST is extra @ 12%. 

1200 is the price for food / adult / day. Kids aged 5-12 years are charged at 50%. Kids below 5 are free.
Additional guests (beyond a double occupancy) are charged at INR 1500/adult (12+ years), INR 750  for 5-12 year old. Kids below 5 years free.

We do ask that all guests either present vaccination certificates, or provide a negative RTPCR Coronavirus test no more than 72 hours before reaching our place.

Cancellation Policy

  • If you cancel your booking 7 day or earlier before arrival, cancellation fee will be 20% of the full invoice amount.
  • If you cancel your booking within 7 days before arrival, cancellation fee will be 50% of the full invoice amount.
  • If you happen to test positive for COVID-19, we will issue a credit note for the full advance paid. This can be used within  one year of the original scheduled check-in date date.
