The retreat is a 9 hour drive from Delhi. Overnight Volvo buses ply between Haldwani and Delhi, some of which are government operated. Details here.
The overnight sleeper buses on redbus arent bad either, but be sure to pick one with a good rating.
The nearest town of Mukteshwar is 12 km by road from us. If driving, check for any festival of importance in Hindu religion (Kawar yatra / shradh etc.). If yes, expect traffic jams near Garh Mukteshwar (different from Mukteshwar).
From Kolkata there is the Bagh express which is daily. It’s last stop is Kathgodam, which is 2.5 hours (INR 2200) by cab. The once a week Howrah Lal Kuan express takes much less time. Lalkuan is about 3 hours (INR 3k) from the retreat by taxi.
There are three trains a day from Delhi to Kathgodam, the nearest train station. The Ranikhet Express is a convenient overnight train both ways, but finding tickets can be difficult. The overnight sleeper buses on redbus aren’t bad either, but be sure to pick one with a good rating.
Most people prefer to take the Kathgodam Shatabdi (New Delhi dep : 6.00 AM, Kathgodam Arr : 11.40 AM). A cab from Kathgodam to Satkhol takes about 2.5 hrs / Rs. 2200. Workshop participants often often share cabs.
There are also some trains to Lalkuan from places like Kolkata,
Chandigarh and Lucknow, but these tend to be once or twice a week
The nearest airport is Pantnagar and there are multiple daily flights from Delhi to Pantnagar. A cab from Pantnagar to Satkhol takes about 4 hr / Rs. 4000. Pantnagar also has flights from some other cities like Lucknow.
There are now direct flights from Mumbai and Bangalore to Bareilly. Bareilly is a 5 hour drive (INR 5500) from Satkhol. These flights are 3-4 days a week, so you may need to get in a day earlier or leave a day later to take these.
