We’ve designed this retreat to be your muse. It is built from the ground up for the inspiration writers seek. A lot of thought has gone into ensuring that even if all six rooms are taken, people can find a quiet spot to write.

It starts with our location – the ridge the retreat stands on has fabulous views on all sides. We’re away from the road (thus the 150 metre walk to the retreat) and adjoining a forest. Birdsong replaces the noise of traffic here.

Many people say the silence takes some getting used to.

Your muse may be the writing desk in your room. Or the low “floor work” tables on each bay-window.

There is the common room with french windows where you can sit and write. The book lounge with it’s eclectic library feel is a favourite, if a tad busier.

As you move outside, the open verandah is covered but airy. The hammocks tempt, but are better for snoozing/reading than writing.

Most rooms have sitouts where you can write in nature.

The most treasured is “the island” in the farthest corner of the ridge looking out upon gorgeous sunrises and magnificent sunsets. On a clear day, you’ll see the snow-capped giants to the north and east – for a 180 degree span.

A plug point on a tree ensures your device stays as juiced up as you.
