Write for the screen: Script & Screen Writing course, Himalayas, India

May 24 May 28

Screen writing is specialized. Whether you’re writing a film, a web-series, or a documentary, screenwriting has its own specific structure and rules.

The craft of script-writing is not as flexible as writing prose: mastering screenwriting can take much practice and time. The Himalayas are a good place to get started.

We’re lucky that we have an expert teaching the screenwriting course at the Himalayan Writing Retreat this summer. Anu Singh Choudhary is the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Director of Dopamine Media and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. She writes screenplays for a living, and hires people to do this as well. A renowned writer who has won many awards, she loves teaching. Anu Singh Choudhary is the perfect person from whom to learn screenwriting in India. Her detailed profile is below.

Like all our courses, this Screenwriting course is not a one-to-many broadcast. It is a small group of ten people working together closely, practicing the art, reviewing each other’s work, and learning by doing. At the end, you may also have a shot at being picked up by Anu as a script writer in her team.

The Himalayan Workshop sessions are held in the open or in the book lounge. Some meals maybe served in the open too if the weather is good. The outdoors are a very inviting and inspiring here.

The venue is the 5-star rated Himalayan Writing Retreat (you can read our reviews here).

While you’re here, walk in the wilderness, bask in the warmth of a sublime sunset, and gaze at the stars. Let your eyes feast on the magnificent Himalayan dusks and dawns, your ears on the live birdsong concert, your lungs on clean crisp mountain air, and your taste buds on the delectable, homely fare.

This workshop is INR 32000. Currently the early-bird price of INR 29000 is available. This covers a twin shared room for all four nights, all meals and taxes.

We only accept a total of ten applicants in one workshop on a first-come first-served basis. To apply for this writing course, please click the blue button below and fill out the application. If accepted, you can pay the fees to secure your spot. Questions? Call or WhatsApp +91 73035 16665.

Our rooms are built to let nature in and inspire you. To see pictures of the rooms click here . To see pictures of the writing spaces click here

  1. Why should I choose HWR Workshops?
  • Personal Attention: We don’t take more than 10 students in a class. You get a lot of personal attention and feedback. No classrooms of 20-30 people or one-way pre-recorded videos here.
  • Class Quality: For most courses, we filter our participants. You can’t just pay and sign up. We need to see a writing sample (in our application form) to ensure the class is of a uniform standard.
  • Quality of faculty: No lightweights here. Many of our faculty are award-winners. All are experts and great teachers. We don’t settle for average.
  • Feedback scores: Across courses, we are rated 4.5/5, or higher. You can read our reviews HERE.
  1. Do I get a certificate of participation?

Yes, certificates are available on request.

  1. Any discounts for students / other categories?
